ALEX BROEKHOF

Alex Broekhof // Big Epic

Hadn't ridden in this area before, so everything was new and interesting! The beginning part through Rancho Canada is beautiful, I would like to explore that area more.

I was very underbiked for Santa Teresa, riding 38c slicks. Especially on Stiles—that was chunkier than I was expecting to see!

The climb up to Mt. Umunhum was tough, but it was fun to do it mostly on dirt. I took a little break at the top for "lunch" and to look at the cube. The descent was fast, and I was trying to be somewhat careful as it sounded like my brake pads weren't too happy.

I thought I took a selfie at the Rotary Furnace ("Bringing New Almaden into the 20th century!"), but I guess I didn't click the button properly. My selfie game was not on point... Contouring around Almaden Quicksilver through the trees was very pleasant.

Lisa Killough trail was a joy, lots of fun! Nicely graded, fast trail.

I forgot to take a completion selfie, of course...

Thanks for organizing, it was a fun ride!
