Simon Box // Mini Epic

Beautiful weather - sunny but not too warm - and following the rains over the last couple of days the trails were damp (for once) with plenty of grip. Which was great! The first photo point at Turtle rock was kind of awkward. There were a whole bunch of people holding some kind of event/party on the rock with music and - strangely - press ups. But they did not seem to mind us taking a selfie there and even offered to take the photo for us, which was cool. The last two big climbs up from horseshoe lake and to black mountain were definitely brutal and the day was getting hot at this point. But we made it and the descent down canyon was super fun - punctures notwithstanding. We made it back to the parking lot after six and a half hours of riding. A tough day in the saddle but certainly epic.
